The Sony 1.4x Teleconverter (SEL14TC) extends the focal length of selected FE telephoto lenses by 40 % — autofocus, image stabilisation and Exif data all carry through. It costs one stop of light and weighs 167 g, so it lives in a pocket until the distance calls for it.
- On the FE 200-600mm G OSS: 280–840 mm at f/8–9 — the reach for shy birds and wildlife.
- On the FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM II: 98–280 mm at a constant f/4.
- On the FE 70-200mm f/4 Macro G OSS II: 98–280 mm f/5.6, with macro magnification growing to match.

Important: Sony teleconverters fit only a selection of telephoto lenses. In our fleet it works with the FE 200-600mm G OSS, FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM II and FE 70-200mm f/4 Macro G OSS II. It does not mount on other E lenses — including the older FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS.
