First-time renters

Can I rent as a private individual?

Yes. You need no company, no F-tax certificate and no proof of being a professional — we rent to private individuals on the same terms as to companies.

That is the whole idea behind Flexfoto. Professional equipment is traditionally rented out by companies to companies, often on the condition that you collect and return it in person. Here it is enough that you are a private individual with an address in Sweden — the equipment comes to your door and travels back to us on a prepaid return — you get a QR code by text and email to show at the service point.

What you need

You must be 18 and able to identify yourself with a Swedish BankID. BankID is how you sign the rental agreement, and that signature is what replaces the deposit — we never take one.

A delivery address in Sweden. We deliver to your door or to a PostNord service point, wherever in the country you live.

Nothing beyond that. No deposit, no company, no membership fee, and no minimum rental beyond a single day.

The same terms as for companies

The range, the rental periods (1–90 days) and the all-risk cover are identical whether you rent privately or in a company name. Shipping is the same flat price either way, and the return leg is always included.

What differs is the VAT. As a private customer you see prices including VAT — what you see is what you pay. Choose "Företag" at the top of the page and the same figure stays, but as a price excluding VAT: 25 % is added at checkout, and the company deducts it. A company therefore pays more at checkout, but its net cost is the figure you see.

Do you run a credit check on private individuals?

In many cases, yes. We use Creditsafe, which is a lighter kind of credit check that neither shows up at UC nor affects your credit rating. If you have rented from us before we skip it. There is a separate answer about this further down under Orders.

So, how does this work?

Our rental process aims to be as simple and smooth as possible.

  • Browse our range on the website
  • Pick the product or products you want to rent and the dates you want them for, click "Add" and follow the steps at checkout.
  • Your equipment arrives on the arrival day you chose. You rent it from the arrival day up to and including the return day.
  • By 18:00 on the return day you must have handed the parcel to PostNord — either by packing it up and leaving it at a service point (show the QR code to get your return label), or by having booked a collection that takes place before 18:00.
  • Done!
What comes with the equipment?

Many product pages have a "What's included" section that tells you. In short, the items come with what we got from the manufacturer: if a lens includes a lens hood when bought new, it comes with it when you rent. Camera bodies come with one battery and a charger. For manuals and instructions we refer you to the manufacturers' own websites — it is all online. If you would like help finding a particular manual, get in touch and we will sort it out right away!

Whatever comes with your order must also come back: lens caps, battery chargers, bags and cases, tripod rings and so on are expensive, and we need them back to include in the next rental. If the order is sent back without everything, we will unfortunately have to charge you to replace what was lost. Lens caps usually cost 400-800 SEK, tripod rings 1,500 SEK and up.

Why can I not start the rental on a particular day?

When you book your rental, the date picker has some restrictions. Here is what they mean:

Days you cannot choose as an arrival day

Gul prickad kant

The arrival day — the day the equipment is delivered to you — is always a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, and never the day after a public holiday. A rental can of course include weekends and public holidays; this is only about which day it can begin. The reason is that we hand the parcel to PostNord the day before, and neither we nor they work weekends or public holidays.

The price difference between, say, a 3-day and a 4-day rental is marginal — try it yourself. It does not cost much to add a day or two.

Public holidays

Gulmarkerat datum

Swedish public holidays cannot be chosen as an arrival day, nor can the day after one, because no freight moves then.

A greyed-out day

Utgråat datum

This means the product is fully booked, already rented out, or the day is too soon for the parcel to arrive in time. Order before 18:00 and the equipment can be with you in as little as two working days. If you need to rent sooner than that, call us or use the chat.

Can I collect the equipment in person? Visit your shop?

Our concept is entirely web-based. You book what you want here on the site and we send the equipment to your door or your nearest service point. We do not have a shop, unfortunately, and cannot offer any way of collecting or returning the equipment in person.

This means last-minute orders can be tricky. But nothing is impossible — chat with us or call us and we will see what we can do. We do offer courier delivery, but at different shipping prices from the ones shown on the website.

A day cannot be chosen in the calendar — is the equipment booked then?

Not necessarily. Often it only means the rental cannot start on that day — the arrival day has to be a Tuesday–Friday that does not follow a public holiday. Pick the day before or the day after and it usually works. If the day is greyed out, though, the product may be fully booked.

Read more about what the different days in the calendar mean, and why they are as they are: Why can I not start the rental on a particular day?

Can I rent/book in advance?

Yes! Not only is it possible, it is what we recommend most strongly. Booking in good time has nothing but advantages:

  • You make sure the equipment you need is not booked by someone else on exactly those dates. We hold limited stock and do not have many copies of individual cameras and lenses
  • You lock in the price
  • Free cancellation is included right up until we pack your order and book it for transport
  • You can choose to defer payment of your rental, so you are not even out of pocket. We offer options at checkout both to pay later but before the rental starts, and even to pay after the rental has ended.

Equipment can be booked up to a year in advance.

What happens if I damage the equipment?

The products are covered by Flexfoto's all-risk cover during your rental. That includes damage caused by dropping them, spilling water and so on. Total loss of the equipment is also covered, as long as normal care has been taken — normal care means you cannot leave the equipment on a park bench, in which case you become liable for the full cost of buying replacement equipment. If you are robbed out of a locked car, for example, the cover does apply.

If the insurance covers the damage you pay 1,500 SEK per damage event — never more.

In the event of theft, a police report is a condition for the insurance to pay compensation. Without a police report you are liable for the full value of the equipment. The same applies if the equipment was used outside the region you selected when booking, if accompanying accessories do not come back, or if the equipment was lent out or sub-let to someone else.

Whatever has happened: tell us immediately. We do not charge any rental fees while the equipment is being repaired, as long as you tell us about the damagebefore you send the lens back.

For most lenses we include a UV filter to protect the front element.

We hope every renter, all-risk cover or not, is careful with the equipment during the rental — the time we cannot rent equipment out because it is being repaired or handled by our insurer is still expensive time. We will not invoice you for it, but we do humbly ask that you look after the equipment as if it were your own!

What does sealing mean?

Sealing means you pay 50% of the rental price to have a "backup camera" sent to you — half price, however long the rental is. If the seal comes back intact, that is all you pay. If you break the seal you have had the equipment available as fully usable gear for the whole rental, so the full rental applies plus a 100 SEK handling fee for re-sealing and inspection. It exists for professional photographers who need backup equipment with them — "just in case" equipment — should their main camera and/or lens break or similar.

So choose sealing when you do not expect to need the equipment. You pay 50% of the price if you choose sealing; if the seal is broken, the full rental applies plus a 100 SEK handling fee. Adding a sealed spare therefore does not cost anything extra.

How is the rental period calculated?

The rental period is the days from your arrival day up to and including your return day. If the delivery is delayed we reduce the rental for the time you could not use the equipment — get in touch and we will sort it out.

The rental then runs in whole days. Both the arrival day and the return day count as rental days and are included in the price. The equipment must be handed over to PostNord by 18:00 at the latest on the return day — you choose whether to drop it at a service point or book a pickup at home. You may return it earlier, in which case you are refunded for the rental time you did not use.

Orders

What payment options do I have?

We offer flexible payment methods and options. Here we explain them in more detail.

Pay now

This means you pay at checkout when you make the booking. If you pay now you get 1% off the rental price. You are of course fully refunded if you cancel your order, as long as it is before we have shipped the equipment — and even if we have already shipped it, you then pay only the shipping cost and the equivalent of one day of rental if you cancel that late.

At checkout you can pay now with:

  • Debit/credit card
  • Swish
  • Apple Pay
  • Klarna

Pay later

Pay later means you make the booking without making any payment at that point. Here we have two variants:

Pay later, but before the rental starts

This option means you make the booking without being out of pocket, but the rental must be paid at the latest five working days before the first rental day. We then send a payment link that can be paid flexibly with the same options as above. This carries a 5% surcharge.

Pay later, after the rental has ended

It means what it sounds like — after you have sent the equipment back, we send an invoice that can be paid in flexible ways: bank giro, Swish, card or Klarna. The invoice is to be paid within 10 days. Choosing this option carries a surcharge equal to 10% of the total rental cost.

Invoice

We offer payment by invoice to businesses. The invoice states the price excluding VAT and adds 25 % VAT to the total, exactly as at checkout. Only choose it if you are a business customer and do not want to pay by one of the methods above. Note that these orders require manual handling, and if you book at short notice we do NOT recommend this choice, as we may not have time to approve you for invoice payment before the order has to ship. Pay by card or Swish instead in that case. For security reasons we review every company that wants to pay by invoice before we approve invoice orders. The invoice is issued with a final payment date 10 days after the rental ends. The rental agreement must also be signed by an authorised signatory for the company that is to pay the invoice.

Can I cancel a rental?

In short: yes. It results either in a full refund or a partial one, depending on when you cancel:

Before we have shipped your order

You can cancel a rental at any time up until it has left our warehouse. You then get all your money back.

After we have shipped your order

If, on the other hand, you cancel after we have packed your order and booked it for transport, we will refund everything except the shipping cost (shown on your order) and the equivalent of one day's rental of the products you ordered. Example: you have rented a camera and three lenses for a week, total cost 8,000 SEK. The shipping cost was 395 SEK. Renting the same cameras and lenses for one day would have cost 1,000 SEK. We then refund 6,605 SEK (8,000 SEK - 1,000 SEK - 395 SEK).

Cancelling is easiest if you have an

account

with us: then you just sign in and go to

Orders

. From there you can cancel the rental yourself. Alternatively, get in touch with us with your order number and we will take care of the cancellation.|

Do you run a credit check?

In many cases, yes. We use Creditsafe for credit checks. It is a light-touch check that does not affect your ability to borrow, and it does not appear on UC.

From Creditsafe's website (in Swedish):

Does the number of enquiries about you as a private individual affect your credit rating? The answer is no. Creditsafe does not lower your credit rating based on how many companies have obtained a credit report on you. Your credit assessment is based solely on the information registered in our databases on that particular day. The number of credit enquiries therefore affects neither rating, scoring nor future credit assessments.

Why do we do it?

We send tens of thousands of kronor worth of equipment to people we have never met. The credit check is part of how we manage that risk.

What happens if it does not pass?

We get in touch and the booking is cancelled. You get back everything you paid, and you are charged nothing.

It is worth knowing that a credit report can just as easily contain no information as it can contain something negative. If you have recently moved to Sweden, run your own business without paying yourself a salary, or are a student, there is often simply no registered income to assess. That does not mean anything is wrong.

Is there anything you can do about it?

Yes — write to us at support@flexfoto.se and we will look at it manually. There is often a way forward:

  • Other documentation. A certificate of registration or company registration number, F-tax certificate, VAT returns, annual accounts, or a few months of bank statements. VAT returns usually say the most, because they show real turnover even when you take no salary.
  • Start with a smaller rental. Once you have rented from us and it has gone well, the whole range is open to you next time.
  • A deposit. We can offer a deposit agreement where you pay a security before the equipment is sent, and get it back once the equipment has returned in good condition.
  • Someone else as the renter. A parent, a colleague or your company can place the booking and sign the agreement.

We would much rather find a solution than say no.

Can you guarantee that the equipment is fully working when I receive it?

*Guarantee* it, unfortunately, we cannot. What we do promise is that we do everything we can to make sure the equipment works. We inspect it when it comes back from the previous rental, and again before we send it out to you. We clean it. We double-check that every item that should be included is packed. We pack it safely.

Even with all these precautions, things can still happen. A parcel can be shaken badly enough in transit for something inside the equipment to break. An internal component may wear out and fail during your rental period.

What happens if the equipment is damaged when I receive it?

Send us an email about the damage within 24 hours of collecting the parcel. We will look at whether we can send you a replacement product, or simply note the damage. If the damage is such that you cannot use the equipment, we will refund the full cost of the damaged products — after we have verified the damage once the product is back with us.

Why does shipping cost more than in an ordinary web shop?

Short answer: two journeys instead of one, heavy and insured goods — and flat shipping prices set below our own cost.

In an ordinary web shop the parcel travels one way. With us it always travels two: out to you, and home to us again. That alone doubles the cost compared with the shipping prices you are used to.

This is what is included:

The return shipping. You never pay extra to send it back. You choose whether to drop the parcel at a PostNord service point or book a pickup at your door — pickup is included for everyone, whichever way you chose to receive the delivery.

Proper packaging. The equipment travels in a protective hard case, not in a bag. That makes the parcels heavy and bulky — and PostNord charges by weight and size.

Insured for replacement value, both ways. Every shipment is insured for what the equipment costs to buy new, the whole time PostNord has it — out to you and home to us again. If a 40,000 SEK lens is crushed in transit, the insurance covers it, not you.

PostNord's best services. We ship with strict identity checks — only the person who signed the rental agreement can collect the parcel — plus fast delivery and full flexibility for you as the recipient. In the PostNord app you can redirect it to another service point or pick a time for home delivery.

Nordic Swan Ecolabelled and carbon-offset transport. We use only PostNord's Nordic Swan Ecolabelled delivery methods, and carbon-offset on top of that.

Shipping is not a revenue stream

Shipping is priced in five fixed steps by how large the shipment is, and you see which one applies right in the cart. The price is the same wherever in Sweden you live — we charge nothing extra for distance. What decides the step is the shipment’s size: PostNord charges for the GREATER of the parcel’s real weight and its volumetric weight, and a hard case is light but bulky, so size usually decides rather than weight. All five steps sit below what PostNord invoices us for the same shipment: we do not charge for shipping in order to make money on shipping.

Tip: rent for longer

Shipping is the same whether you rent for three days or three weeks. The longer the rental, the smaller the share of the bill that is shipping. And however short the rental: shipping is never more than half the rental price. If the real cost comes to more than that, we cover the difference.

I want to rent for longer than 90 days!

We should be able to sort that out. We can arrange extended rentals of up to six months. Place an order with the right start day and then get in touch with us with how long you actually want the rental for, and we will work out an arrangement together.

How does it work for companies — invoicing, VAT and receipts?

Yes, you can rent in your company's name, and a large share of our customers do.

Paying by invoice

Choose invoice at checkout. It requires a company name and a valid Swedish organisation number. We review the order manually and invoice after the rental has ended and the equipment is back with us. There is no surcharge for paying by invoice.

The other payment options cost different amounts depending on when you pay:

  • Pay now — card, Swish, Apple Pay or Klarna. 1 % discount.
  • Pay later, before the rental starts — a payment link due five working days ahead. 5 % surcharge.
  • Pay later, after the rental ends — a payment request due ten days after the end. 10 % surcharge.
  • Invoice — companies only. No surcharge.

VAT

Prices are shown including 25 % Swedish VAT by default — that is the private-customer price. Select Företag at the top of the page and the same figure stays, but now as a price excluding VAT: 25 % is added at checkout and you deduct it in your accounts. Your company’s net cost is therefore the figure shown on the site.

With a valid VAT number in another EU country no Swedish VAT is added — you pay the amount shown and account for the VAT yourself (reverse charge). Enter the VAT number at checkout.

Receipts and documentation for your books

The rental agreement you sign with BankID is your documentation. It states the total and how much of it is VAT, and you can download it at any time under Mina sidor.

Invoice customers also receive a proper invoice with its own invoice number.

If you need anything else for your accounting, get in touch and we will sort it out.

Delivery

Delivery

We deliver every parcel with PostNord, and returns go with PostNord too. At checkout you choose whether to have the delivery to a service point or to your door, or alternatively Företagspaket if you order as a business. You can redirect a parcel to another service point — this is done in the PostNord app once the parcel is on its way to you. We ship our parcels with the strictest identity requirements, so the personal identity number of the person receiving/collecting the order must match the person who signed the rental agreement with BankID here at Flexfoto for the order to go through.

Bear in mind: if you book home delivery, PostNord delivers right up to 22:00 in the evening. If you need the products on a particular day, we recommend choosing an arrival day one day earlier — the price difference is marginal.

The PostNord app

We strongly recommend installing and using PostNord's app for iOS and Android. Once installed, also make sure you register your phone number and/or email address in the app, and use the same details when you order from Flexfoto — then all your parcels, and returns, are added to the app automatically. With the PostNord app you can:

  • Track your Flexfoto shipments and returns
  • Get digital notifications
  • Collect parcels without ID when BankID is used
  • Manage and track returns
  • See the size of the parcel
  • Search for service points and opening hours

The app is available for iOS and Android. Download it from the App Store or Google Play. If you would rather not download the PostNord app you can track your shipment directly at postnord.se.

Only Nordic Swan Ecolabelled and carbon-offset transport

We use only PostNord's Nordic Swan Ecolabelled delivery methods. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel guarantees a delivery that meets strict requirements on climate performance and high energy efficiency. Nordic Swan Ecolabelled e-commerce transport is an official third-party label with 20 demanding criteria across all of PostNord's e-commerce deliveries — climate, environment and social conditions. On top of that we carbon-offset all our transport.

Returns

We aim to make returns as smooth as possible. Pack it in the same box you received, and we include tape or a carton that can be resealed. You can choose to return via a PostNord service point or book a pickup, where PostNord comes to your home to collect the parcel. You choose whichever suits you best! Do read more about our returns.

Is my order guaranteed to arrive at a specific time?

Unfortunately we cannot guarantee a specific delivery time for any of our delivery services. We send the parcel in time for it to arrive no later than the arrival day you chose — but it may turn up at any point during that day. With home delivery PostNord delivers right up to 22:00 in the evening.

This applies to our standard shipping options. If your order needs to arrive at a specific time, write it under "Add a message" at checkout and we will contact you to see whether we can find a solution.

Can you guarantee my order arrives on the stated day?

We guarantee that we ship your order on time, using a delivery method that should get the equipment to you on the arrival day you chose. If we are late sending it, that is on us — we will get in touch and sort it out with you.

Delivery itself is outside our control. Our delivery partners are of high quality, but things do sometimes go wrong, and weather and other external circumstances can play a part. We do not automatically see that a parcel is stuck — so if you notice the delivery is about to fail, get in touch with us or contact PostNord directly. If you could not use the equipment, we reduce the rental for that time.

The safest plan before something important is still to choose an arrival day one or two days before you actually need the equipment — then you have a buffer, at a relatively small extra cost.

What are my options if my order is delayed?

If your shipment is delayed because of a mistake by the carrier, we can offer a refund of the outbound shipping cost, and either extend your order by the length of the delay or refund you for the part of the rental period the equipment did not arrive in time for.

If the parcel arrives too late for you to use it, we can recall the parcel and issue a full refund. In many cases we can also send out a replacement order to meet you at a different destination, if your order was for a trip and the delay means the parcel arrives after you have left.

Returns

Everything about returns

Wondering how the equipment is returned?

Our return process aims to be as simple, smooth and flexible as possible. On the return day — the last day of your rental — you simply return the equipment in the same parcel it came in, by 18:00 at the latest. You choose whether you would rather drop the parcel at your nearest PostNord service point, or book a pickup where PostNord comes to the address you choose and collects the parcel. Both are included in the shipping you have already paid for.

Remember that the parcel must always be handed over to PostNord by 18:00 at the latest on the return day. The return day is a rental day and is included in the price. Rather rent one day too many — it is cheaper than paying a late fee.

Before the return

  • Check carefully that all the equipment that was part of your rental is in the return. Any original packaging, cables, accessories: it all goes back, so you avoid extra costs afterwards.
  • Use the same packing material that was in the box when we sent the rental to you, so nothing is damaged on the way back.
  • Tape the packaging up and make sure it is properly sealed.

Our returns are handled by PostNord. You now have two options for your return: either book a pickup or drop it off at a PostNord service point.

Handing it in at a PostNord service point

The simplest option for most people is to take the parcel to a PostNord service point. When we have sent your order you get a QR code by text and email from PostNord, and the same code is in the letter inside the parcel. Show the code at the counter and they print the shipping label for you and attach it. There is no shipping label in the parcel — the QR code replaces it.

Pickup

If you choose pickup, PostNord comes to the address you give and collects the parcel. For security reasons you must be physically present and hand the parcel over when they come to collect. You do not need to print and attach a shipping label; the driver brings it when a pickup is booked. You can book the return in several ways:

  • In the email from us there is a link ("Book a pickup") — click it to go straight to booking a pickup
  • Easiest of all: use the PostNord app. Make sure you have registered your email address and/or phone number in PostNord's app, and shipments to and from Flexfoto will appear there automatically. You can also add shipments manually; you get a link and a shipment ID by email and SMS after we have sent your rental. The option to book a pickup then appears automatically in the app and you can do everything from there
  • You can also scan the QR code on the printed letter in the packaging, which takes you to a pre-filled booking page
  • Alternatively: visit returns.postnord.com/se/ and enter the return's shipment ID (not the same ID as when you received your rental). You will find the return's shipment ID on the printed letter from us in the packaging.
Can I return an order early and get money back?

Yes! If you want to return an order early, you get back the difference between what you have already paid and what you would have paid for the time you actually had the equipment. Just make sure you tell us when you send the equipment back so that we can arrange a refund.

Note, however, that for rentals shorter than 7 days there is very little difference in price, so a refund on a 4-day rental versus a 2-day rental, for example, is extremely small.

NOTE: our shortest rental time is one day, so if you return the products immediately on receipt, you will still be charged for a one-day rental.

I cannot find my return QR code!

No problem! When we shipped the order from us, you were sent a QR code by SMS and email from PostNord — show that QR code at a PostNord service point and they will print the shipping label for you on the spot. That SMS and email come from PostNord and look like the example below:

Exempel-sms från PostNord med QR-kod för returfraktsedel
Exempel-mail från PostNord med QR-kod för returfraktsedel

If you would rather return via pickup than a service point, visit returns.postnord.com and enter the shipment ID you were given for the return in the email from us — no shipping label is needed, the driver brings it. You can find that shipment ID in several places:

  • in your account here on the website, if you placed the order while signed in
  • the email you got from us when we shipped your rental from our warehouse — click "Track" next to the tracking number named "Retur upphämtning" and you go to the pickup booking page
  • in the packaging you got a letter from Flexfoto with return information, which has a QR code you can scan to reach the pickup booking page — it also has the QR code you show at a service point so they can print the shipping label

You are of course also welcome to contact us and we will sort it out quickly and easily!

Extending rentals and late returns

Can I extend my rental?

As long as we still have the equipment in stock we are happy to extend your rental. Get in touch before the return day — that gives us time to tell you if someone else has already booked it.

Bear in mind that booking the longer period up front is always cheaper than renting short and then extending. The price per day falls the longer the rental is, and an extension starts again from the short rental’s price level.

We do this to encourage our customers to rent for the longest time they might need a product, and then return it early for a refund instead of renting it for the shortest time they might need it.

We do this because it helps us have a better idea of when a product will actually come back from a rental, so that we can take other bookings for it.

What happens if I am late with my return?

No problem at all! But tell us straight away. We will arrange a rental extension and help find a drop-off point nearby.

We usually send a return reminder about a day before the rental period ends. If you still forget, or life gets in the way, we also send a late notice if the order has no active tracking. To be specific: if the carrier’s tracking page shows no updates after 18:00 on the return day, the return counts as late.

We strongly recommend making sure you get and keep your hand-in receipts.

If you do not have a drop-off point near you, we can also book a pickup.

I forgot to send back one of the products or an accessory!

No problem — these things happen! But tell us straight away. We will send instructions on how to send the product back separately. If you do not tell us and we only discover it when we receive your rental and go through it, we charge a late fee and/or replacement cost for the missing products or accessories. We will of course get in touch when we discover it, and if you send the missing item back straight away you avoid paying the replacement cost.

How is the late fee calculated?

The late fee follows § 14 of the rental terms: 1.5 × the product’s daily rate for every started day the return is late. The daily rate is the price for one day — the same price shown first in the price ladder on the product page — not a share of what the whole rental cost.

If the rental is seven days or longer and you are a single day late we usually waive the fee — but that is goodwill on our part, not a right, and we need to hear from you.

Get in touch — then it is only a late fee

If you are running late: tell us. As long as you are reachable and the parcel is on its way, or we have agreed an extension, the fee above is all that applies. It runs per started day until the equipment is handed in, and it has no ceiling. We are happy to help you find a nearby service point or book a collection.

No return at all — when we cannot reach you

If the equipment has not come back seven days after the return day and we have had no contact from you, it is treated as stolen under § 14. We then file a police report and invoice the full cost of replacing the equipment. In that situation the late fee is charged up to and including the seventh day and no further, because the replacement claim applies instead.

So this applies only to someone who is both late and impossible to reach. Nobody is seven days late by mistake and unreachable at the same time — get in touch and we will sort it out. If you want to keep the equipment longer, an extension is almost always simpler and cheaper.

If the rental is seven days or longer and you are a single day late, we usually waive the fee — but that is a courtesy from us, not an entitlement, and we need to hear from you. If the late return means we have to send products to a waiting customer by express delivery in order to be on time, you are also charged the actual cost of that express delivery.

Why do I pay more in total to extend a 7-day rental to a 14-day one than a 14-day rental costs?

We do it to encourage renting for the longest time you might need a product, and returning it early for a partial refund instead — rather than renting for the shortest time you might need the product. We do this to get a better idea of when a product will actually come back to us from a rental, so that we can accept future bookings for it.

If a renter chooses the longest time they might need a product, we can accept a future booking with confidence. In the opposite situation, where the equipment is rented for the shortest period the renter might need it, we can end up in a position where they assume they can get an extension on a rental but we have already reserved the product or products for another renter.

Range and selection

I want to rent something you do not have!

It only takes two or three requests for a product for us to bring it in and offer it for rent. And if you want it for a longer period, we can probably sort that out too. Do fill in our product request form to help us prioritise future purchases. You are also welcome to simply chat with us or email us your request.

Is the equipment in good condition?

We buy all our equipment brand new. Before and after every rental we check the equipment, including testing focus and taking pictures. For lenses we guarantee that the glass is intact and that the lens works normally.

The equipment is used frequently, so there will certainly be scratches and marks on the body, but nothing that affects how it works. There may also be a little dust inside the lenses. If there is anything that affects image quality we will fix it; otherwise we carry on sending the equipment out for rentals.

Do you sell used equipment?

Not at the moment. We have loose plans to offer this later on. Contact us with an email to say you would like this — it helps us get a picture of how much interest there really is.

Which equipment should I rent?

Ask us — it is the fastest route. We own and handle the equipment ourselves, so we know what works together and what you actually need.

Tell us this and you will get an answer

  • What you are photographing or filming
  • Which camera you already have, or whether you need to rent one too
  • Where it happens — indoors, outdoors, evening, stage, travel
  • How long you need the equipment

Will the lens fit my camera?

It says so on the product page. Every product has a Passar till section listing the camera bodies the lens fits. It is built from the lens mount in our own catalogue data rather than guessed — where the data is missing, no link is shown at all rather than a wrong one.

Common starting points

  • Portraits — a fast prime, 50 mm or 85 mm
  • Sport, birds and safari — telephoto from 200 mm upwards
  • Weddings and events — a zoom covering 24–70 mm, ideally with a second body as backup
  • Travel and vlogging — a light zoom or an action camera
  • Interiors and architecture — wide angle, 16–24 mm

If you are unsure whether to buy something: rent it first. Many of our customers do exactly that, and a week's rental costs considerably less than the wrong purchase.
