Tova went to Tanzania – with a super-telephoto zoom from Flexfoto

11 January 2025

Travelling to Tanzania with a clear goal in your luggage – photographing wild animals (the Big 5, perhaps?) in their natural environment – takes both planning and the right equipment. When Tova Langels rented from us at Flexfoto she knew what she was after: a proper telephoto lens with enough reach to capture lions, elephants and birds without disturbing them.

The choice fell on the Sony FE 200–600mm f/5.6–6.3 G OSS, a lens popular among nature photographers precisely for its versatility and detail rendition.

Tova summed up her experience with the equipment like this:

"Last winter I rented the super-telephoto zoom Sony FE 200-600mm for my trip to Tanzania with the family over Christmas and New Year. The pictures were taken at Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater, the Serengeti and on the island of Pemba. With that lens I got pictures that looked as close as we felt."

And a selection of the pictures Tova took during the trip with the lens:
