Nature photographer Daniel Iglesias tries Flexfoto

Daniel Iglesias is the zookeeper who started taking pictures through his great interest in animals and nature – and was hooked! Today he leads expeditions, among other things, together with Zoom fotoresor.

As a photographer you often need different kinds of equipment, and owning it all yourself gets expensive. Flexfoto was born out of that idea, and Daniel Iglesias has now tried renting from us!

What do you most like to photograph?

– Always animals! The species can vary from Swedish lynx and adders to toucans and venomous snakes in South America. From arctic foxes in Iceland to jaguars in Brazil and giant tortoises in the Galápagos.

What do you think of the experience with Flexfoto?

– I am extremely pleased! Easy to order, easy to find what you need and a wide variety of products and camera brands. Delivery was fast and safe, straight to my door! Something I was especially impressed by was their secure and extremely sturdy hard cases that the products came in.

On what occasions would you rent your photo equipment rather than buy it?

– Since I make varied trips and take on different photo jobs, and have different photo projects here at home in Sweden, it is both hard and expensive to buy everything you "want". It is not always justified to buy a lens costing several thousand when you know you will only use it for a couple of days. I am off to Iceland at the end of the summer, and then I will be renting a camera body and two lenses from Flexfoto!

What tips do you have for people interested in photography who want to develop and get better?

– Find role models who take pictures you wish you could take yourself. Read up on the basics and on your camera's settings; it helps if you know how the equipment works. When it comes to nature photography it helps enormously if you have read up on the animals and their behaviour before you go out to try to photograph them. Last but not least: patience, practice and even more practice gets results!

What is your dream project?

– Oh, that is hard! I have many dreams and goals with my photography, but also getting more people interested in our animals and their environments. When it comes to trips and expeditions I have long dreamed of travelling to the deep rainforests of Papua New Guinea to photograph and discover new species.
